I was asked by McNally Smith College of Music to be on a Pedagogy Panel on Friday November 4th from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. If you go to McNally and can make it, that would be great. Looking forward!
I finished writing a book that has to do with being an electric guitarist and musician that I started 10 years ago. I'm sending it off to get edited any day now, and it should be published and available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and through my website late summer!!
I'm doing an interview on this internet station out of Las Vegas this coming Wednesday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM Central time. I expect to be talking mostly about music. They may ask about my alien abduction as well. Tune in to alleviate the suspense: http://ybsradio.com/
I am finally on the last chapter of a book I have been writing on and off for quite a few years! The book has to do with playing the guitar and being a musician in general and I am really happy about how it is turning out. It is all text, so it is a different angle than you might be used to seeing for an instructional book. It has ended up being almost twice as big as I originally anticipated, coming in somewhere around 300 pages. Once I finish the last chapter, I will do some rewrites, have it edited, and then will self publish this spring. I will let you know where it will be available once I publish it.
I have written about seventy five percent of my second solo album. It has gone in a slightly different musical direction than I myself even saw happening. (Sorry, must remain top secret for now :) This ended up being a welcome change as the writing ended up being very fresh to me. I am also including an unusual choice of a cover song that I have wanted to do for years. I am really excited about recording it this spring and have some stellar musicians all lined up to go!
For you guitar geeks out there (like me), I am having a second guitar being built right now by Campbell American Guitars, and it should be here in a few weeks! I am really excited about it, as I could not be happier playing their guitars! I will post a picture when it arrives. http://www.campbellamerican.com/players/rick_stack
I wanted to thank all the people who have come out to see my shows this past year, and a very special thank you to all the people around the world that have shown an interest in my music! It has been a truly fantastic year and I am so grateful for all your support!!!
Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for the New Year!
Rick
